I might be an Autumn Baby, but since I’ve been embracing play whenever I can, the summer holidays is something I look forward to more and more. Long days of sun, picnics in the park, warm nights outside with friends, the ice-cream festival, outdoor cinema screenings…these are all things that go on my Summer Playlist.
Getting back into the work zone after a break, however, can take some real effort. Especially if you’re the creative working and everyone else is still in holiday-mode.
Katy Cowan asked some creative freelancers how they deal with getting back to work after a summer break, and I shared my thoughts for the Creative Boom blog.
“Along with easing into the work week again, I do a quick, creative play exercise to kick my brain into an inspired mode,” she says. “My fave is a brainstorm around any old word; I actually keep these for future research.”
