Make space for joy in your business with a Summer Playlist

It’s almost time for the Summer Solstice and that means it’s officially the turn of the season — which means a new studio playlist!

No, not a music playlist…but a PLAY LIST.
(Inspired by the forever playful Rachael Renae)

This is something that I do every season to bring some fun TO the studio and to make sure that I do some things AWAY from the studio. And I encourage anyone who will listen to do the same thing — whether you work with us or just follow on social media.

We all need a friendly reminder to go touch some grass right!?

A Playlist for business or leisure?

I write two Playlists every season. Why? Because as a creative business owner, doing for a job what you enjoy for a break, the lines between what counts as work and what doesn’t gets real blurry, real quick. My solution — to actively separate creative work and creative non-work.

Although I could overlap things (i.e. going for a picnic at lunch could be a day-job joy or a weekend joy) I don’t want to mistake my having fun at work for having fun in general. That isn’t adding more play to my life, it’s distributing what play I already do — which is 1: not enough, and 2: not the point.

By having 2 distinct lists, it means that I can consciously make the job more playful as well as ensuring I don’t forget to enjoy the summer.

You don’t need to do both. Yoco Studio is set up to bring more joy to business after all, it’s our purpose. So, if you’re new to making seasonal Playlists, then I would recommend starting with a personal (non-work) one to get in to the spirit of committing to play.

Summer Playlist 2025

I miss old-school summers. The 6-week holidays where there were plans with friends, family, and youth clubs. Holidays away, BBQs into the night, and road trips for no reason. Ice-poles, coke-floats, and picky bits all the time. Summer jams on portal speakers, falling asleep in the grass, and chillin’ out doing whatever you felt like with no real agenda or schedule. I want summer 2025 to feel just like this…full of joy and life.

I keep all my previous Playlists to see what I was into and what I got up to over the year. It makes it easy to relive some of those little joyful moments that are easy to forget about.
