I don’t like sending emails on Jan 1st.
There is just too much going on in our inboxes with offers and deals and “new year, new you” messaging and I don’t want to add to that overload. Also, I want to be real with you…I don’t think anyone should be checking their emails on New Year’s Day so I’m not going to encourage it either.
Now that we’re a few days in, I have something very important to share with you about 2023.
Instead of getting caught up in all the 2022 round-ups on Instagram, the big achievement posts, and what everyone else is setting as their new level-up goals, I want you to think about what success really means to YOU this year.
The truth is there are a *bucket-load* of things that might make you feel successful, beyond the things that everyone seems to talk about online.
- You might want to work 1 day a week only and spend the rest of the time with your family.
- Maybe want to take your business off social media completely so you don’t stress over it anymore.
- Perhaps you are looking to hire a team so that you can take a step away from front of house and strengthen your work-life boundaries.
Your success does not have to look like anyone else’s, and the most important thing you can do is to run your business (and your life) in a way that feels good to YOU.
It feels like a pleasure and a rebellion to define success for yourself and not simply based on other people’s yardsticks or societal expectations. For me, this year is all about moving with gentle power. Taking small, intentional steps to build habits that last, being truly present in what I do, having regular breaks from work (making time for a real life hobby!) and embracing more ease and joy in everything I do.
I’m not the only one who thinks this way! Check out how some of my creative pals are measuring success for themselves this year:
⭐️ “In 2023 I’ll be measuring success by how content and at-peace I feel when I wake up in the morning knowing how I’ll be spending my day.” – Sophie
💜 “To me success looks like not being afraid of myself. Keeping my glass full & sharing my overflow. Working diligently & thoroughly. Not hard. Falling in love with myself. And building a legacy of empowering & freeing people. Yea. That!” – Eso
🔥 “I’ll be making more space for rest and family and noticing how present I am. For me success means more freedom for the stuff that feels good.” – Siobhan
⚡️ “Success is when I don’t think about work, outside of work.” – Paulina
Take this as your permission slip to define your own measures of success for 2023 and know that you can run your business in whatever way you want. Reply and let me know what you are choosing!
Ease & joy!
